Another Sunday School Tip.

2016 Pacifica, CA

Traffic sucks. The beach is awesome.

Travel with Jack Thatcher as he stumbles upon an amazing sunset at the Pacifica Pier in Pacifica, California.

This week’s Sunday School it was all about the journey and thought to capture an image. Jack takes you from his office to the beach. Then he just needed to compose the image properly and work some magic in of Lightroom. You get to see every step of the way.

Come on, lets go!!!

Editing Process

The entire editing process for this image was done inside of Lightroom CC. Why? Because I only needed to make some basic edits. I simply adjusted the colors, added some contrast and vibrance, gave it a vignette and removed about a million sensor spots. I need to remember to get that cleaned ASAP!

  1. First and foremost I wanted the best quality so I went with ISO 100.
  2. Second, I wanted as long of an exposure I could get. I didn’t have an ND filter so I was at the mercy of the light. I had to set step three before I knew what I could get. Turns out 0.6 seconds was the magic number.
  3. Third, I selected f/22 as my aperture in an effort to get as long of an exposure as I could. I wanted to do this to try and smooth out the water as much as possible. This also gave me great depth of field without sacrificing too much quality.
