Another Sunday School Tip.

Ride the Wave

2016 Santa Cruz, CA

Oh the sweet, sweet smell of the morning.

Travel with Jack Thatcher as he wakes up nice and early to catch some surfers at first light at the famous Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz.

Jack wanted to try something new on this morning. Watch as he learns while taking you through the settings he is using. Along the way he will let you know why he chose what he did. You get to see every step!

Come on, lets go!!!

Editing Process

Jack processed this image using Lightroom & Photoshop CC. He started in Lightroom to make basics color and contrast changes then moved over to Photoshop to really make the details pop.

  1. First and foremost I wanted the best quality so I went with ISO 100.
  2. Second, I wanted a little depth of field in the image. I had shot some at f/4 and the focus wasn’t great. Moving to f/11 did the trick.
  3. Third, I was in aperture priority for this image and the shutter fell at 1/125th of a second. I had my exposure compensation at -1 so the white foam in the water wouldn’t be over exposed.
